Harry Lowery
Drums

My name is Harry, and I am a professional musician and published author from Gateshead. I have recently graduated from Graduate College, Lancaster University, with a Masters in Creative Writing (Distinction).

My drumming journey began when I was six years old, shortly before joining the Dryden Centre Academy of Musicians. It was here where I progressed through all drum grades, one to eight (with Merit and Distinction), in succession through the Rockschool exam board. During my time at the Academy, I was trained in all genres of music - from jazz to funk to calypso - and I was invited to showcase my grade pieces at the end of year Academy performances for which I won the award for "Best Performance". My specialities include: performance, sight reading, technical exercises, improvisation and general musicianship knowledge.

Subsequent to my training in the Academy, I was the drummer of a successful rock outfit for seven years. I have toured the United Kingdom twice (playing sold-out shows in Dunfermline, Wakefield and Sheffield), headlined the O2 Academy, performed at festivals in Leeds and Newcastle, and professionally recorded over five releases (with streams surmounting to over 100,000) under a record and management label.

Unlike the infamous Terence Fletcher from Damien Chazelle's Whiplash (2014), I am a friendly, patient and enthusiastic teacher who believes drumming is both enjoyable and accessible for all people (after all, it is the coolest instrument!). To this end, my lessons are your time: I would be delighted to help you in any way I can on your own journey, whether this is casually learning your favourite songs or advancing through the grades.
