Frequently Asked Questions

  • When do the lessons take place?
    Lesson are currently available as follows: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday However, we are always adding new times and days, so if you are interested in a lesson on any other day, please let us know and we will see if we are able to accommodate you.
  • How long are the lessons?
    Lesson can be booked for either 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. Half an hour is suitable for most people, particularly young learners and beginners, but a longer lesson allows you to explore pieces and techniques in greater depth.
  • Is the teaching 1:1 or in groups?
    We are currently offering 1:1 tuition.
  • Can I keep the same day and time for my lesson?
    Yes, once you have booked and paid for a group of lessons that day and time are reserved for you. When you come to pay for another set of lessons, as long as you purchase the lessons before your existing ones have finished, we will hold your lesson time for you.
  • Is there an age limit?
    There may be restrictions on the minimum age of the learner depending on the instrument, but there is no maximum age at which you can learn.
  • Are exams offered and do I have to take them?
    Our teachers can put you through exams should you wish to take that direction. However, there is absolutely no obligation. You will learn at your own pace and your teacher will cater their teaching to your needs and requirements.
  • What instruments do you teach?
    We currently teach piano and music theory. More instruments will be offered soon.
  • Can I take my lessons online?
    No, all our teaching is currently in person to provide the best possible experience.
  • How do I pay for my lessons?
    Lessons are paid via bank transfer with a an invoice issued monthly. Our lesson costs are as follows: 1 x 30 minute lesson - £18 1 x 45 minute lesson - £27 1 x 60 minute lesson - £36
  • How do I book a lesson?
    If it is your first lesson, you can complete the enquiry form here. Alternatively, you can contact us on info@windowsmusicacademy.com.
  • How much do lessons cost?
    Lessons are £18 per half-hour, £27 per 45 minutes or £36 for an hour.
  • Can I get student discount?
    Yes, we do offer a 10% student discount on presentation of a valid NUS card.
  • How do I pay for my lessons?
    Lessons are paid via bank transfer with invoices issued monthly.
  • I’m going on holiday. How do I cancel my lesson?
    If you know you have a holiday planned when you book your set of lessons, please let us know and we will arrange your lessons around your holiday. However, if your plans change, please be sure to give us at least 7 days notice prior to the cancelled lesson, and we will attempt to offer a replacement lesson, or simply postpone lessons for the weeks you aren't available. This will be dependent on the availability of your teacher and teaching space. Should the replacement lesson not be suitable refunds cannot be offered. Please note: No-shows and cancellations with less than 7 days notice, including for illness, are considered forfeited lessons and cannot be refunded.
  • What if I can’t make my lesson?
    If you can’t make your lesson and give us 7 days’ notice, we will offer a replacement lesson where possible, or postpone lessons for one week. This will be dependent on the availability of your teacher and teaching space. Should the replacement lesson not be suitable refunds cannot be offered. Alternatively, we may offer an online lesson, if you are unable to attend in person. Please note: No-shows, cancellations in less than 7 days, including for illness, are considered forfeited lessons and cannot be refunded.
  • What if the teacher has to cancel?
    If your teacher is unable to teach, we will reschedule your lesson or find a replacement teacher, and the lesson will not be forfeited. If the Academy is forced to cancel your lesson for another reason, such as severe weather, we will reschedule your lesson and the lesson will not be forfeited.
  • How do I reschedule a lesson?
    Please contact us at info@windowsmusicacademy.com if you would like to discuss rescheduling your lessons. Please note: we will do our best to accomodate you if you do need to reschedule your lesson, but if there are fewer than 7 days until the lesson you can't attend, there is a possibility that you will forfeit the lesson.
